- Why fleets like a bay with no appointments

# No appointments: why it fits the way fleets actually work

Fleet days rarely go to plan: jobs cancel, run long or move across town, and weather changes the schedule. A drive-in bay with no appointment lets a driver bring the vehicle in when a gap opens, at whichever of our four service centers is nearest, instead of rebuilding the day around a booked slot.

Dispatchers have a saying in some version or other: the schedule is a plan for what you will change. A crew that was supposed to be in Spanish Springs all morning finishes early. A job in Carson City gets pushed because the customer is not home. A snowstorm cancels outdoor work for the day. In every one of those moments, a truck suddenly has time it did not have an hour ago. That is the moment a no-appointment service center is built for.

## The problem with booked slots

A booked service appointment asks a fleet to predict, days ahead, which truck will be free at what time and near which service center. When the prediction is wrong, the choice is between missing the slot and pulling a truck off a job. Neither is good. Rescheduling takes office time, and a missed appointment can push maintenance out by another week.

Our four service centers take vehicles in the order they arrive. A truck that finds itself free at 10:30 near Longley Lane can pull in at 10:30.

## How fleets use the gaps

Fleet customers tend to fold maintenance into the natural breaks in the day. Reviewers describe it. David M. has brought his company trucks to the Longley service center for years and calls it good, fast service (Google review). Margie R. wrote that the service center did a quick and thorough oil change and inspection on her Chevy flatbed (Google review).

- A job finishes early: send the truck to the nearest service center on the way to the next one
- A weather day: run the vehicles that are due through the bay one after another
- A driver's lunch break: Sierra S. got an oil change in Gardnerville on her lunch break and still had time to eat (Google review)
- Saturday: all four service centers are open Saturday mornings for vehicles that cannot be spared on weekdays

## Choosing the bay by route, not by account

Because the [fleet program](https://xpressoilandlube.com/services/fleet-service/) keeps each vehicle's records together, it does not matter which service center a truck uses. A crew working on the west side can use Mae Anne Avenue. One near the airport can use Longley Lane. One in Carson City can use College Parkway, and one in the Carson Valley can use the US-395 service center in Gardnerville.

Hours vary a little: Mae Anne and Carson City are open weekdays 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 4; Longley weekdays 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 3; Gardnerville weekdays 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 3. All four are closed Sunday.

## What we ask of fleet drivers

A no-appointment service center works best when drivers know a few things before they pull in: the unit number, roughly when the vehicle was last serviced, and who at the office can approve anything beyond the standard service. With that, the visit goes straight through. Without it, a finding may have to wait for a phone call.

We will not promise how long any visit takes, because vehicles and days vary, and diesels and big vans take longer than sedans. What we can promise is that nobody has to book ahead. To set up an account, use the [fleet page](https://xpressoilandlube.com/fleet/), and then send the trucks when the day allows.
