# What might be due on my car?

Fill in the form below with what oil you run, when the last services were done, how many miles you drive a year and how you drive, and it lists what is likely due now and what is coming. It uses general published guidance, so your owner's manual always wins.

★★★★★ 4.7 stars from 952 Google reviews

## Fill this out and see what services are probably due.

Based on general published service intervals, not a price list. Your owner's manual sets the real numbers, and we check the sticker and the manual when you pull in.

### Your list

Fill in the odometer and the miles or months since your last oil change, then press the button.

Intervals: AAA, the Car Care Council, the American Petroleum Institute and the Nevada DMV, read 10/15/26. Your owner's manual wins.

### The intervals behind this tool

| Item | Typical interval | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Oil and filter change | every 6 months or 5,000 miles | AAA: 5,000 to 7,500 miles on synthetic for many modern engines, less under severe service; conventional oil and older engines closer to 3,000 to 5,000. Your owner's manual sets the real number. |
| Engine air filter | every 12 months or 15,000 miles | Car Care Council: inspect at every oil change; dusty roads clog it sooner. |
| Cabin air filter | every 12 months or 15,000 miles | Car Care Council: about every 12,000 to 15,000 miles; sooner in dust and wildfire smoke. |
| Wiper blades | every 12 months | Car Care Council: inspect twice a year and replace when they streak or chatter; Nevada sun and dust shorten the life. |
| Transmission fluid service | every 36 months or 50,000 miles | Many manufacturers list 30,000 to 60,000 miles under severe service and longer under normal service; some fluids are 'lifetime'. The manual wins. |
| Coolant flush | every 60 months or 60,000 miles | Long-life coolants run 5 years or 100,000 miles or more by manufacturer; older green coolant about 2 years or 30,000 miles. The manual wins. |
| Differential service | every 36 months or 40,000 miles | Trucks and AWD vehicles that tow or run gravel roads: manufacturers list 30,000 to 50,000 miles under severe service. |
| Power steering flush | every 48 months or 60,000 miles | Hydraulic systems only; many makers publish no interval and recommend inspection. Electric power steering has no fluid. |
| Battery check | every 36 months | Car Care Council: test a battery after three years, and before every winter in a cold climate (Reno averages 122 freezing nights a year, NOAA 1991-2020). |
| A/C service | every 24 months | Inspect before summer; Reno averages 65 days a year at 90 F or hotter (NOAA 1991-2020). Recharge only when the system is low. |
| Nevada smog check | every 12 months | Annual at registration renewal inside the Washoe and Clark testing areas; the first three registrations of a new vehicle are exempt (Nevada DMV). |

The windshield sticker tells you one thing: when the oil is due. It says nothing about the cabin filter that has been breathing wildfire smoke for two summers, the coolant that was last changed by the previous owner, or the smog check that your Washoe County registration needs next month. The form puts eleven common items on one screen with a date and a mileage for each, and links each one to the service page that explains it.

## How the math works

Every item has a published general interval in months and, where it applies, in miles. Oil uses AAA's guidance: many modern engines on synthetic go 5,000 to 7,500 miles between changes, with conventional oil and older engines closer to 3,000 to 5,000, and the manual sets the real number. Cabin and engine air filters use the Car Care Council's 12,000 to 15,000 miles and inspect-at-every-oil-change advice. Transmission, coolant, differential and power steering use the ranges manufacturers commonly publish, which is why those rows say "the manual wins" in so many words. The smog row uses the Nevada DMV rule: annual at renewal in the Washoe and Clark testing areas, with the first three registrations of a new vehicle exempt.

If you tick a severe-service condition, which here means mountain passes, towing, gravel or dust, short trips or extreme heat and cold, the form shortens the mileage intervals by the factor the item carries, because that is what the severe-service column in an owner's manual does. Most of Northern Nevada qualifies on at least one count: the service centers sit between 4,426 and 4,917 feet (USGS), Reno sees 65 days a year at 90 F or hotter and 122 freezing nights (NOAA 1991-2020), and the roads to Tahoe climb more than 3,000 feet.

## What the result means

The result is an estimate from general guidance. It is not a diagnosis, not a promise that something is wrong, and not a substitute for the maintenance schedule in your glove box. When you pull in, the technician checks the actual condition of the fluid or filter and shows you, and you decide. Members of [My Garage](https://xpressoilandlube.com/garage/) get the same calculation run from their recorded visits, with a reminder email when an item comes due.

- Due now: the published date or mileage has passed; bring it in with the next oil change
- Coming up: due within the next month or 1,000 miles
- Fine: nothing to do yet, and the next-due estimate is shown
- Check the manual: items such as transmission fluid where the manufacturer's number can differ a lot from the general one

## Where the intervals come from

AAA's article on how often to change your oil, the Car Care Council's car care guide, the American Petroleum Institute's motor oil guide and the Nevada DMV's emission control program page, all read on 10/15/26 and linked below. The climate and elevation figures come from NOAA and the USGS. Nothing in the form is a price.

Fill in the form, note what says "due now", and drive in today; it all fits in one visit.

## Questions people ask

Still have a question? Call your service center or drive in; there is no appointment to make.

### Does the form know my specific car?

No. It uses general published intervals. Your owner's manual, or the maintenance schedule on your manufacturer's site, has the number for your engine and should be followed over anything here.

### Why does it show a shorter oil interval when I tick towing?

Manufacturers publish a shorter severe-service interval for towing, dust, short trips and extreme temperatures, and the form applies a similar reduction.

### I do not know my last service dates.

Enter your best guess or leave them blank; the form treats a blank as unknown and flags the item for a check in the bay.

### Is my data saved?

Not unless you are signed in to My Garage. The form runs in your browser and forgets the entries when you leave the page.
