Douglas County is not a smog testing area, so the visit is the oil change and the maintenance check, weekdays 9 to 5 and Saturday 9 to 3. ★★★★★ 4.8 stars from 85 Google reviews Minden is the Douglas County seat, with its brick downtown on US-395, the old flour mill and creamery, the Minden-Tahoe Airport and the homes out along Buckeye Road and Johnson Lane. Minden and Gardnerville run together along the highway, and the service center sits right where one turns into the other. ## Just down US-395 From downtown Minden, head south on US-395 toward Gardnerville; the service center is at 1293 US Hwy 395 N on the north side of town. From Johnson Lane, come down to US-395 and turn south. OSRM gives about 8 minutes from the middle of 89423. Our Carson City service center is about 24 minutes north if you are headed that way. ## The coldest nights we track The Minden climate station averages about 188 nights a year at or below freezing, 75 at 20 F or colder and about 2 at zero or below, yet also about 68 days at 90 F or hotter (NOAA 1991-2020 normals). That is the widest swing of any station near our service centers. Batteries lose cranking power in the cold, and coolant has to protect against both freezing and boiling. Our [cold-weather battery guide](https://xpressoilandlube.com/guides/car-battery-cold-weather/) has the details. ## Minden households The ACS 2020-2024 estimates count 11,221 residents in 4,606 households in ZCTA 89423, a median age of 57 and a median household income of $108,750 per the ACS. Households average 2.24 vehicles and 77.1 percent keep two or more. The mean commute is 20.1 minutes, with 76.0 percent driving alone. An older, settled ZIP with a second car or an RV in the driveway often means vehicles that sit between trips. Oil ages even when the car is parked, so the time limit in the manual matters as much as the mileage. ## Smog checks in Douglas County None needed for local registration. The Nevada DMV emission program covers only the urban parts of Washoe and Clark counties, and Douglas County is not one of them. A vehicle registered in Minden renews without a test. ### Sources - [api.census.gov/data/2024/acs/acs5](https://api.census.gov/data/2024/acs/acs5) (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 5-year estimates for ZCTA 89423, retrieved 2026-10-15) - [project-osrm.org/](https://project-osrm.org/) (OSRM free-flow car routing from the ZIP area to our service centers, 2026-10-15) - [dmv.nv.gov/emission.htm](https://dmv.nv.gov/emission.htm) (Nevada DMV Emission Control Program, read 2026-10-15) - [ncei.noaa.gov/products/land-based-station/us-climate-normals](https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/land-based-station/us-climate-normals) (NOAA NCEI 1991-2020 normals, Minden station USC00265191, read 2026-10-15) ### Closest service center: Gardnerville - Call [(775) 301-5912](tel:+17753015912) Mon-Fri 9 am-5 pm, Sat 9 am-3 pm, Sun closed - Address [1293 US Hwy 395 N, Gardnerville, NV 89410](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=1293+US+Hwy+395+N%2C+Gardnerville%2C+NV+89410&destination_place_id=ChIJYQ-Okii_mYARfT-NCEgyvAM) [Directions](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=1293+US+Hwy+395+N%2C+Gardnerville%2C+NV+89410&destination_place_id=ChIJYQ-Okii_mYARfT-NCEgyvAM) ### What a customer said Gardnerville Crew was great as always.
