Washoe Valley is in the Washoe smog testing area, so the yearly test belongs at a Reno service center, and the oil change can happen at either end of the valley. ★★★★★ 4.6 stars from 319 Google reviews Washoe Valley is the open stretch of I-580 between Reno and Carson City: New Washoe City on the east shore of Washoe Lake, the ranches and homes along old US-395 past Bowers Mansion and Franktown, and Pleasant Valley at the north end. People here face both directions every day, which is why this page names two service centers. ## The smog question has a different answer here Washoe Valley sits in Washoe County, and the Nevada DMV emission page names it in the testing area even though Carson City, just to the south, is not. A gasoline vehicle registered in 89704 needs a yearly test from its fourth registration; hybrids from the sixth model year; diesels up to 14,000 pounds GVWR as well. A pass lasts 90 days. Our two Reno service centers run the test every open day. Longley Lane is about 23 minutes north on I-580. ## North or south on I-580 To College Parkway, take I-580 south into Carson City, exit at College Parkway and head west; the service center is on the parkway before North Carson Street, about 16 minutes by OSRM routing. To Longley Lane, take I-580 north into Reno and exit at Mill Street, about 23 minutes. Old US-395 on the west side of the lake is the slower, prettier way to either. ## Washoe Valley households The ACS 2020-2024 estimates count 4,846 residents in 1,844 households in ZCTA 89704, a median age of 56.6 and a median household income of $118,017 per the ACS. Households average 2.87 vehicles, the highest of any ZIP we serve, and 87.4 percent keep two or more. The mean commute is 26.0 minutes with 72.4 percent driving alone. Nearly three vehicles per household usually means a truck, a car and something with a trailer hitch. The Washoe Zephyr winds that come down off the Sierra and across the valley push dust into air filters, and the valley floor runs cold on winter nights. ## Hours at both ends College Parkway is open Monday to Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 4. Longley Lane is open Monday to Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 3. Both are closed Sunday and neither needs an appointment. ### Sources - [api.census.gov/data/2024/acs/acs5](https://api.census.gov/data/2024/acs/acs5) (U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 5-year estimates for ZCTA 89704, retrieved 2026-10-15) - [project-osrm.org/](https://project-osrm.org/) (OSRM free-flow car routing from the ZIP area to our service centers, 2026-10-15) - [dmv.nv.gov/emission.htm](https://dmv.nv.gov/emission.htm) (Nevada DMV Emission Control Program, read 2026-10-15) ### Closest service center: Carson City - Call [(775) 883-5823](tel:+17758835823) Mon-Fri 8 am-5 pm, Sat 8 am-4 pm, Sun closed - Address [1861 E College Pkwy, Carson City, NV 89706](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=1861+E+College+Pkwy%2C+Carson+City%2C+NV+89706&destination_place_id=ChIJp4iNnfYKmYARLQFKHxR-MX4) [Directions](https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=1861+E+College+Pkwy%2C+Carson+City%2C+NV+89706&destination_place_id=ChIJp4iNnfYKmYARLQFKHxR-MX4) ### What a customer said Carson City I have 3 vehicles that I bring in on a regular, always a very pleasant experience. The oil Techs are all super kind and very polite. Every time I come in for our oil change they are all so cheerful. I will never go anywhere else, 5 star rating with me. They are even doggie friendly, so its a bonus for me!
