Accessibility Statement

Effective: October 15, 2026

Xpress Oil & Lube Center ("the company," "we," "us" or "our") wants xpressoilandlube.com (the "Site") to work for as many people as possible, including people with disabilities, and wants everyone to be able to find a service center, check what is due, save a coupon, join the email club and ask us a question. This Statement explains the standard we aim for, what the Site does to meet it, the limits we know about, how to get help another way and how to tell us about a barrier. Our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use also apply to the Site.

1. Our commitment

We are a small, locally owned company with four service centers, and we treat access the same way we treat the bay: no appointment, no fuss, and someone there to help. The Site is built and maintained for us by YelloPost, which builds accessibility into each page as it is written rather than adding it afterward. When we learn that something does not work for someone, we fix it or give you another way to do the same thing. The phones at every service center are always a fallback.

2. The standard we aim for

Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG explains how to make web content perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for people who use screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control, switch devices, keyboards alone, or who need larger text, more contrast or less motion. We also follow the WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices for menus, dialogs and status messages.

3. Where we stand

We consider the Site partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the Site meets the standard and some parts do not yet. The parts we know about are listed in section 10, each with another way to get the same result.

The Site is checked with automated tools and by hand during each build, and the pages are generated from templates so that a fix to one page applies to every page of the same kind. We review this Statement at least once a year and whenever the Site changes in a way that affects access.

4. What the Site does

Structure and navigation:

  • One H1 per page and headings in order, so you can jump through a page by heading.
  • Landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer, and a "Skip to content" link at the start of each page.
  • Descriptive page titles and link text that says where a link goes, such as the service center name and street rather than "click here."
  • A location picker that works with a keyboard and announces the service center you chose, so every page then shows that service center's phone, hours and directions.
  • A breadcrumb trail on inner pages and a table of contents on long pages, including this one.

Keyboard access and focus:

  • Menus with their own open and close buttons that announce whether they are expanded, so you do not need a mouse hover.
  • The Escape key closes open menus, the mobile menu, the chat window, the privacy choices card, the accessibility tools and the call-back panel.
  • When the mobile menu or a dialog is open, focus stays inside it, and when it closes, focus returns to where you were without scrolling the page.
  • A visible focus outline, so keyboard users can see which link, button or field is selected.
  • No keyboard traps: anything that opens can be closed from the keyboard.

Forms, tools and messages:

  • A visible label for every form field, including the vehicle year, make and model dropdowns and the service center you prefer.
  • Error messages in plain words that are announced to screen readers, with the field marked as invalid and focus moved to it.
  • Status messages such as "Sending..." and "Saved" announced through ARIA live regions.
  • The What's Due and smog helper tools show their results as text, and the same tables are on the page without scripts.
  • Coupons are live text, not pictures of text, so they can be read aloud and enlarged, and each one has a Save button that announces whether it is saved.
  • Click-to-call links for every service center that work with screen readers and voice control, so you can reach us without typing a number.
  • A chat window announced as a dialog, with a labeled message box and new replies announced to screen readers.

Images, color and layout:

  • Text alternatives for meaningful images, and empty alt text for decorative ones so they are skipped.
  • Color contrast between text and background designed to meet WCAG AA, including on our yellow and black brand colors.
  • Nothing is conveyed by color alone; open and closed hours, saved coupons and errors also use words or icons.
  • A responsive layout that works on phones, tablets and desktops and supports browser zoom to 200 percent without sideways scrolling.
  • Respect for your device's reduced-motion setting, which turns off animations and smooth scrolling, including in the chat and the call-back panel.

Text versions and audio:

  • A plain-text version of each page (an index.md file at the same address) with the same content and no layout, images or scripts, plus a short text summary of the Site in llms.txt.
  • Our service centers' addresses, phone numbers and hours as text on every location page, in addition to the maps.
  • The Site has no video or audio content, so captions and audio descriptions do not apply. If we add video we will caption it.

5. The accessibility tools button

Every page has an "accessibility tools" button. It opens a panel that lets you change how the Site looks and behaves. Its features include:

  • Profiles (Motor, Visual, Cognitive and Senior) that apply a group of settings at once.
  • Text size, line height, letter spacing and word spacing.
  • A dyslexia-friendly font.
  • A reading guide and a reading spotlight to help you keep your place.
  • Read aloud for the whole page or for selected text, using your browser's built-in speech.
  • High contrast, inverted colors, and low or high color saturation.
  • Color-blind filters for protanopia, deuteranopia and tritanopia.
  • Underlined links and highlighted links.
  • A big cursor and a choice of cursor color.
  • Stop animations.
  • Hide images, which shows each image's alt text in its place.
  • Form assistance, which enlarges fields and highlights errors.
  • A list of the page's headings so you can jump to a section.
  • Keyboard shortcuts: Alt+A opens and closes the panel, Alt+R resets every setting, Shift+? lists the shortcuts and Escape closes the panel.
  • A link to this Statement and a reset button.

Your settings stay in your browser. They are saved only in your browser's local storage, so they apply on other pages and on later visits in the same browser, and they are never sent to us. Clearing your browser's storage resets them.

If the accessibility tools button or the chat button is in your way, you can close it with its small X. It stays closed in that browser, and the "Show" button at the very bottom of the page brings it back.

Your own tools come first. The panel is a convenience, not a requirement. The Site is built to work with screen readers, magnifiers, voice control, browser zoom and operating-system display settings, and you do not need the panel to use any part of it.

6. Using the Site with a keyboard

You can use the whole Site without a mouse:

  • Tab moves forward through links, buttons and fields; Shift+Tab moves backward.
  • Enter activates a link or button; the Space bar activates buttons and checkboxes.
  • Arrow keys move through the vehicle dropdowns, the service center radio buttons and the location picker.
  • Escape closes an open menu, the chat window, the privacy choices card, the accessibility tools or the call-back panel.
  • In the chat, Enter sends your message and Shift+Enter starts a new line.
  • The "Skip to content" link at the start of each page moves you past the menu to the main content.

7. Browsers and assistive technology

The Site is designed to work with the current and previous major versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, and with common assistive technology including NVDA and JAWS with Chrome and Firefox on Windows, VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS, TalkBack with Chrome on Android, Windows Narrator, Dragon voice control and screen magnifiers. Very old browsers may not show every feature, but the text, links and phone numbers work in all of them.

8. Technologies the Site relies on

The Site's accessibility relies on these technologies working with your browser and assistive technology:

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • WAI-ARIA

Each page's content is delivered as HTML, so the text is there even when scripts do not run. Some features need JavaScript: the menus, the location picker's live hours, the chat, the accessibility tools, the privacy choices card, the coupon wallet, the What's Due and smog tools' live results, the call-back panel, the bot check and the sending step of the forms. Without scripts the forms still post and the tools show their static tables. If a feature does not work for you, call any service center.

9. How we check

Each build of the Site is run through automated checks for headings, labels, alt text, contrast, link text and ARIA use, and the main flows (find a service center, call, save a coupon, join the club, sign in to My Garage, send a form, use the chat) are walked by hand with a keyboard only and with a screen reader. Problems found go into the generator so that every page of that kind is fixed at once. We welcome reports from people who use assistive technology day to day, because they find what checklists miss.

10. Known limitations and what to do instead

These are the parts of the Site we know may not be fully accessible, and the alternative for each:

  • The maps. The map on the home page and the embedded Google map on each service center page can be hard to use with a keyboard or screen reader. Every service center's street address, phone number and hours are printed as text on its location page, and the Directions link opens your own maps app.
  • The bot check. Cloudflare Turnstile is provided by Cloudflare. It is invisible almost all of the time, but in rare cases it may ask for a step that is hard with some assistive technology. If it stops you from sending a form, joining the club or requesting a sign-in link, call any service center and we will take care of it by phone.
  • The chat assistant. Automated chat may not suit everyone or every assistive technology, and its answers can be wrong. Call, email or drive in instead; nothing is available only through the chat.
  • The call-back panel. This optional panel appears only on desktop computers and only once. Everything it offers is on the contact page and by phone.
  • Third-party websites. Google Maps, Google reviews, Facebook, the Nevada DMV and manufacturers' pages we link to belong to other organizations, and we cannot promise their accessibility.
  • Coupons and My Garage on a phone. If you cannot show a coupon or your garage on your phone at the service center, tell the staff your email address or the coupon code and they can look it up.
  • Documents. The Site does not rely on PDF documents. Invoices are handed to you at the service center, and staff will read or explain one on request.

11. Access at the service centers

Our four service centers are drive-in bays with a waiting area, and service is done while you wait, so most visits involve no walking at all. Each building is different, so if you need step-free access to the waiting area or the restroom, an accessible parking space, help getting in or out of the vehicle, more time, or information explained another way, call the service center before you come and tell us what you need. Reno Northwest, 6100 Mae Anne Ave: (775) 787-1000. Reno South, 4993 Longley Ln: (775) 828-6996. Carson City, 1861 E College Pkwy: (775) 883-5823. Gardnerville, 1293 US Hwy 395 N: (775) 301-5912.

At the service center, staff will read the inspection findings and the invoice to you, write things down, explain what was found as many times as you like, and help with the coupon or the garage. Service animals are welcome. You decide what work is done, and no one is rushed.

12. Other ways to get information and help

Nothing on the Site is available only on the Site. You can:

  • Call any service center during its hours and ask about services, prices, coupons, smog checks or what your vehicle needs.
  • Drive in without an appointment and talk with the technician while the work is done.
  • Email ian@xpressoilandlube.com with a question or a request for information in another form.
  • Ask a service center to look up or apply a coupon, join you to the email club or read what is in your garage.
  • Use the plain-text version of any page at its address plus index.md.

13. How to report a barrier

If any part of the Site is hard or impossible for you to use, please tell us. Email ian@xpressoilandlube.com with "Accessibility" in the subject, or call any service center and ask them to pass the message on. We read every accessibility message and will reply.

It helps to include the address (URL) of the page, what you were trying to do, what went wrong and, if you are comfortable sharing it, the browser, device and assistive technology you were using and how you would like us to respond. You do not need all of this to get help.

If you need information or service right away, call the service center rather than waiting for a reply by email.

14. Legal framework

We are a place of public accommodation under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and we want the Site and the service centers to meet both the letter and the purpose of that law. WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard courts and the Department of Justice have pointed to for websites, and it is the one we use. Nevada law, including NRS 651.070 on equal access to places of public accommodation, applies to our service centers as well. This Statement is a description of what we do, not a legal opinion.

15. Review of this Statement

This Statement was written on October 15, 2026, when the Site launched, and is reviewed at least once a year and whenever the Site changes in a way that affects access. The effective date at the top shows the current version.
