We hire technicians and crew for four drive-in service centers in Reno, Carson City and Gardnerville, and we train in-house, so experience helps but is not required. Send the form on this page with your name, phone, email and a resume if you have one, and the service center you choose will call you.

Read our Google reviews and you will notice that customers name the people who served them: Aaron, Justin, Nick, Anthony, Allen, Dominic. That is what the job is. A technician here changes oil and filters, runs the maintenance check, and then explains plainly what was found to a person who is standing right there. People who are good at this have stayed for years, and the customers who write "I have been coming here for fourteen years" are usually talking about the same crew.

A shift runs from opening to closing, Monday through Saturday, with Sunday off at every service center. The bay work is oil and filter changes on cars, SUVs, pickups and work vans, chassis lubrication, engine and cabin air filters, wiper blades and bulbs, fluid services such as transmission, coolant, differential and power steering, A/C service and, at the Reno service centers, Nevada smog checks. Every car gets the multi-point check, so a technician learns quickly how to read a dipstick, a filter, a belt and a tire, and how to say what they see without pushing.
You will work under the car in the pit and over it under the hood, on your feet, outdoors in Reno summers and winters, with a small crew that shares every job. The reviews mention technicians calling customers about a forgotten water bottle and remembering a regular's dog. That is the standard.
New hires train alongside experienced technicians at the service center that hires them.
the bays are open six days a week. If you want to see the job before you apply, drive in for an oil change today and watch the crew work.
The trade in Northern Nevada
About 1,580 people work as automotive service technicians and mechanics across the Reno metro, and about 270 more in the Carson City metro, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (OEWS, May 2025).
Across all employers in the Reno metro, the BLS median for automotive technicians was $24.13 an hour in May 2025, with the middle half earning between $20.94 and $34.03 (OEWS).
In the Carson City metro the BLS median was $26.09 an hour (OEWS, May 2025).
Washoe County alone had 304 private auto repair and maintenance businesses in 2025, according to BLS (QCEW).
Training is in-house, so you do not need lube experience to start; the BLS figures above describe the trade across the region, not pay at any one shop.
