What an oil change costs in Reno, from the published figures
Published national figures put a conventional oil change at roughly $35 to $75 and a full synthetic at $65 to $125, according to Kelley Blue Book, while RepairPal's estimator lists $160 to $188 for a service center oil change including parts and labor. In Reno the quick-lube chains do not print a base price on their location pages, so the dealer and national figures below are the public reference points.
Oil change prices is a search people run before they pick a service center, and the honest answer is that almost nobody in Reno publishes one. This page gathers the figures that are public, says who published each and when we read it, and explains what makes one car's oil change cost twice another's. It does not state our price; the service center quotes that at the window, before the work starts, for your car and your oil.

What the national figures say
Kelley Blue Book's oil change guide lists a conventional oil and filter change at $35 to $75 depending on the area, and says a car that needs synthetic should expect $65 to $125. RepairPal's national estimator is higher, listing $160 to $188 for an oil change with labor at $58 to $86 and parts at $101 to $103; that figure reflects repair-shop labor rates and premium oil rather than a bay service. AAA's 2017 survey of its approved repair facilities reports an average of $38 for conventional and $70 for synthetic, which is dated but still shows the usual ratio between the two oils.
Read together, the public numbers say two things: the oil type roughly doubles the price, and the kind of service center matters as much as the oil. A bay that does nothing but oil changes and fluids runs on a different cost structure than a repair shop that fits an oil change between brake jobs.
What Reno service centers actually publish
Our market check on 10/15/26 found that no quick-lube chain in Reno prints a base oil-change price on its location page. Jiffy Lube's South Virginia Street page lists seven coupons, including $25 and $27 off its Signature Service oil change, and asks you to enter vehicle information for pricing. Valvoline's Booth Street page lists $7 off a synthetic or blend oil change and $5 off conventional through 11/14/26 and directs you to call for prices. Take 5 and Oil Changers publish discounts but no base price either.
The one local price that is public is at a dealer: Carson City Toyota's service page lists a full synthetic oil change starting at $78.95 with taxes and supplies included. That is a useful anchor, because it is a real Northern Nevada number for the oil most new cars require.
Why one car costs twice another
A 2018 Corolla takes about four and a half quarts of 0W-20 synthetic and a small spin-on filter. A 2019 F-250 diesel takes several times that in a heavier oil and a filter the size of a coffee can. A late-model German sedan takes a cartridge filter and an oil that meets a maker-specific approval. All three are oil changes; the parts bill differs by a wide margin before any labor is counted. That is why a single advertised price always carries a most-vehicles footnote, and why any service center will quote your car rather than a number from a board.
Northern Nevada adds one more variable: the interval. A synthetic change costs more per visit, but AAA's guidance that many modern engines on synthetic run 5,000 to 7,500 miles or more means fewer visits a year than a 3,000-mile conventional schedule. Over a year the two often land close together, which Consumer Reports' auto test center also concludes.
How we price it when you pull in
We do not put a price on this page because the number depends on your engine, and because Nevada's garage law expects the price to be given to you, in writing, before the work rather than on a website after it. At the window the technician reads your oil cap and manual, tells you which of our oils are options for your engine, and quotes the price for the one you choose, including the filter. Anything the maintenance check turns up is priced separately, shown to you, and left to your decision.
Current offers are on the coupons page, and the oil change page describes what the service includes. All four service centers work on a drive-in basis, no appointment, Monday through Saturday.
What moves the price
Oil type: conventional, synthetic blend, full synthetic, high-mileage or diesel; the manual decides which are options
Oil capacity: most cars take five quarts or fewer; many trucks, V8s and diesels take more, and each extra quart adds
Filter type: a cartridge filter on a European or newer engine costs more than a spin-on canister
Viscosity: thin grades such as 0W-16 and 0W-20 exist only as synthetic
Service center type: dealer, independent repair shop or drive-in bay; labor rates differ

Questions people ask
Still have a question? Call your service center or drive in; there is no appointment to make.
Is a cheap oil change a bad idea?
Not if the oil meets your manual's grade and rating and the filter fits. The things to watch are a bargain price that assumes conventional when your engine needs synthetic, and a most-vehicles footnote that does not cover yours.
Do you charge more for trucks?
A truck that takes more oil or a larger filter costs more in parts, and the quote reflects that. The labor for the bay service is the same.
Does the maintenance check cost extra?
No. It is part of every full-service oil change, and what it finds is shown to you and priced only if you choose to act on it.
