Jerry's April 2026 estimate puts a cooling system flush at $173 to $184 at most shops and a plain drain-and-fill at $80 to $150, while Kelley Blue Book's fair range for a 2018 Toyota Corolla coolant flush is $209 to $249. The total depends on how much coolant your system holds, which coolant your maker specifies, and whether the job is a machine flush or a drain-and-fill.
People say radiator flush; service centers and price guides usually say coolant flush or cooling system service. It is the same job: removing old coolant from the radiator, engine and heater core and refilling with the right type at the right mix. What varies is how thoroughly the old fluid is removed and how much new coolant goes in. Below are the figures we read on October 15, 2026, with sources, and the local reasons a Northern Nevada cooling system works harder than most.

Why the published ranges are so far apart
The four figures above describe different jobs. Jerry's published article, dated April 28, 2026, separates a basic drain-and-fill at $80 to $150 from a machine flush at about $173 to $184, and says the machine adds $30 to $80. Kelley Blue Book's Corolla page, priced for its default Milwaukee ZIP, lands at $209 to $249 with dealer labor. RepairPal's national coolant change estimate of $440 to $512 carries a parts line of about $285, which points to maker-branded coolant and possibly related parts.
Oil Changers' Power Program page lists a coolant exchange at $119.99 and notes that prices vary by vehicle and location. When you compare quotes, ask which of these jobs is being priced and which coolant goes in.
How often the job comes due
Kelley Blue Book's coolant page says that typically you should flush and replace coolant every 30,000 miles or five years, and that newer import cars with long-life coolant may go five years or 100,000 miles or more. Older green conventional coolant sits at the short end. Your owner's manual has the real number, and the coolant reservoir or radiator cap often names the type.
We test the coolant's freeze point and condition during the multi-point check at every oil change, so you see the reading before anyone suggests a flush.
What Northern Nevada asks of coolant
Coolant has two jobs here, and both are real. The Reno airport averages 65 days a year at 90 F or hotter, and Minden about 68 (NOAA 1991-2020 normals), so the system has to shed heat climbing out of the valley toward Tahoe with the A/C on. The same Minden station averages 2.1 nights a year at or below 0 F, so the mix also has to keep the block from freezing.
Old coolant loses the corrosion inhibitors that protect aluminum radiators and heater cores. A radiator that was fine in a mild climate can start to weep after a few Reno summers on tired coolant. That is the honest case for testing it twice a year, in late spring and again before the first hard freeze.
How we do it when you pull in
At all four service centers the coolant flush starts with the test result and the maker's coolant type for your engine. We quote the total, exchange the old coolant for new at the correct mix, check the hoses and cap, and top off the reservoir. No appointment is needed. If we see a leak, a soft hose or a radiator that is past saving, we show you and you decide where to have that repaired.

Questions people ask
Still have a question? Call your service center or drive in; there is no appointment to make.
Is a radiator flush the same as a coolant flush?
Yes. Price guides like Kelley Blue Book list it as a coolant flush, and it covers the radiator, engine passages and heater core.
Why does RepairPal's estimate run so much higher?
RepairPal's coolant change estimate includes about $285 in parts, which suggests maker-branded coolant and related parts, plus repair-shop labor. Its page says figures exclude taxes, fees and location.
Can I mix coolant colors?
Do not mix types. Color is not a reliable guide to chemistry; use the type your maker specifies.
How do I know if mine is due?
Check the manual's interval and have the coolant tested. We test it during every oil change as part of the multi-point check.
