We fit new wiper blades sized to your car in the bay at 1861 E College Pkwy, usually during the oil change. The Car Care Council's guidance is to inspect wipers twice a year and replace them when they streak or chatter, and Nevada sun and dust shorten that life.
Wiper rubber in Carson City has a hard life. It bakes against the glass through 39 days a year at 90 F or hotter, freezes to the windshield on 146 nights at or below 32 F, and then gets dragged across 14 inches of snow and the sand NDOT spreads on I-580 and the Spooner grade (NOAA 1991-2020 normals). By the first real storm in November, a blade that was fine in June leaves a smear right at eye level. The College Parkway crew checks blades on every oil change and swaps them in the bay.
When to replace
Streaks or a clear band the blade skips over
Chatter or a squeak across dry-ish glass
Rubber that is cracked, split or pulling away from the frame, which the sun does in a single Carson summer
A rear wiper on the SUV that has not been touched since the car was new
Before the first storm; the Car Care Council says twice a year, and here that means spring and late fall
What we fit
Beam-style blades for most cars and trucks, which handle ice better than the old bracket design because there is no frame to freeze, and the correct lengths for each side, since the driver's blade is often longer than the passenger's. Rear blades for hatchbacks and SUVs on request. Winter blades with a rubber boot are worth asking about if the car lives outside in Washoe Valley or Dayton.
We also top off the washer fluid with a winter mix that will not freeze in the lines on a 20 F morning (Carson City averages 43 of those a year, NOAA) and check the spray nozzles while we are at it.
The drivers who ask for them
State employees heading home on I-580 at dusk, Dayton and Mound House commuters coming down US-50 into a low winter sun, and anyone who crossed Spooner Summit behind a sanding truck. Dayton's 15,781 residents average a 30.8-minute commute (Census ACS 2024), long enough for a bad blade to be a real problem in a squall. The bay at 1861 E College Pkwy is three minutes from north Carson, six from downtown and the west side, eight from Mound House, sixteen from Washoe Valley and eighteen from Dayton (OSRM, 10/15/26).
Google reviewer Phil B. wrote: 'Quick service every time. Even if I don't have an appointment.' A blade swap is one of the quickest things we do.
Hours and the question about smog
Monday to Friday 8 to 5, Saturday 8 to 4, closed Sunday. Drive in; the blades go on while the oil drains. If your registration renewal is what sent you looking: a car registered in Carson City or Douglas County does not need a smog check (Nevada DMV). Reno and Sparks registrations are tested at our Reno service centers on Mae Anne Avenue and Longley Lane, and we can fit wipers there too.

How long do wiper blades last in Carson City?
Six months to a year is typical here; the summer sun does more damage than the winter. The Car Care Council's twice-a-year inspection catches them before the first storm.
Can I bring my own blades for you to install?
Ask at the window. We stock the common sizes and fit them as part of the visit, which is usually the simpler way.
Do you replace the wiper arm or motor?
No. Blades and washer fluid only; a stripped arm or a dead motor is a repair-shop job and we will tell you which it is.
Does a Carson City car need a smog check when I renew?
No. Carson City is not an emissions area and neither is Douglas County. Only the Washoe and Clark urban areas test, and our Reno service centers handle those vehicles.
