The maintenance check at our Gardnerville service center
Every full-service oil change at the Gardnerville service center includes a multi-point maintenance check of fluids, filters, battery at participating locations, lights, tire pressure, belts, hoses, wipers and the underside, written up for you. We report what we found; you decide what, if anything, to do about it.
The Carson Valley is a long way from a tow truck when something lets go on the Kingsbury Grade or on US-395 south of Holbrook Junction. The check that comes with every oil change at 1293 US Hwy 395 N is a few minutes with a flashlight and a list, done while the oil drains, and it is the part of the visit that catches the soft hose, the cracked belt and the weak battery while you are still in a lobby with a chair instead of on a shoulder with no cell signal.
Why the list fits this valley
The service center sits at 4,785 feet (USGS). The Minden station records 188 freezing nights and 68 days at 90 F or hotter a year, 21.8 inches of snow and only 9.3 inches of precipitation (NOAA 1991-2020). Douglas County commuters average 26.2 minutes, the Ranchos 28.6 and Topaz Ranch Estates 41.4 (Census ACS 2024), with 2.25 vehicles per household. Cold thickens oil and exposes weak batteries, heat cooks belts and hoses, dust packs air filters, and towing over the grade heats every fluid in the driveline.
Each item on the check answers one of those. Coolant freeze point for the nights, belt and hose condition for the heat, filter dust for the ranch roads, battery health for the cold, and fluid levels for the grade.

How it comes back to you
Fine: nothing to do, noted so the next visit has a baseline
Watch: plan it, with the mileage or season we suggest
Now: needs attention, with what we can do in the bay and what belongs at a repair shop
Not ours: brakes, suspension, engine and transmission repair; named plainly and left to the service centers that do them
Google reviewer Ivy M. wrote that the crew 'checked my tires and advised me to get my tires rotated soon.' Tire rotation is not on our service list, which is exactly why the advice was useful; Tires Plus is next door.
The bay, hours and smog
Drive in Monday to Friday 9 to 5 or Saturday 9 to 3, closed Sunday, no appointment. Gardnerville is three minutes away, Minden eight, the Ranchos ten, Genoa nineteen, Indian Hills twenty-one, Topaz Ranch Estates twenty-nine and the Wellington side of NV-208 about forty (OSRM, 10/15/26). The service center opened in March 2023 and carries 4.8 stars across 85 Google reviews as of 10/15/26.
The check does not include a smog test, and for Carson Valley customers that is the right answer: a vehicle registered in Douglas County or Carson City does not need one (Nevada DMV). Reno and Sparks registrations are tested at our two Reno service centers.

Awesome service! I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes, so that was amazing! The waiting room was clean and calm, not that I had to be there very long, but I still appreciate the upkeep. Justin was very professional and friendly! Overall a really nice experience, I highly recommend them!

Still have a question? Call your service center or drive in; there is no appointment to make.
Is the maintenance check extra?
No. It is part of every full-service oil change at the Gardnerville service center.
Will you top off fluids you find low?
Washer fluid is topped off as part of the visit. Other fluids we show you first, tell you the amount and top off with your yes; a fluid that keeps dropping gets a note about where it is going.
Can I get the check before a trip without an oil change?
Ask at the window. If the oil is not due we can still look the vehicle over before Tahoe or the long drive south, and we tell you the cost first.
Does the check include a smog test?
No, and a Douglas County or Carson City registration does not need one. Washoe-registered vehicles can be tested at our Mae Anne Avenue and Longley Lane service centers in Reno.
