Our Carson City service center at 1861 E College Pkwy is about 3 minutes from most of North Carson City, and an A/C service there starts with a pressure and vent-temperature test. We recharge only when the system is low and holding; leaks and failed parts go to an A/C repair shop, and we tell you so.

Three minutes. That is OSRM's free-flow drive from the middle of 89706 to our College Parkway service center, close enough to swing by on the way home from the college, the Nevada State Prison side of town or the Arrowhead and Airport Road industrial streets. North Carson has 20,478 residents, 1.88 vehicles per household and a 21.9-minute mean commute (Census ACS 5-year 2024).
The Carson City NOAA station averages 39.5 days a year at 90 F or hotter, about one at 100 F or hotter, and an 86.1 F average high from June through August (NOAA 1991-2020 normals). That is milder than Reno, but a car parked on an open lot off Airport Road still bakes, and a system that is a little low feels it every afternoon.
Most vehicles built through the mid-2010s carry R-134a. Most newer ones carry R-1234yf, which the EPA lists as the lower global-warming replacement. The two are not interchangeable and the fittings are different, so we use the matching machine and fill to the exact weight. The recharge guide explains what a recharge will and will not fix.
Carson City is not an emissions county, so a vehicle registered in North Carson does not need a smog check at renewal. That leaves the A/C check, the cabin filter if you ask, and an oil change as the reasons to stop. College Parkway is open Monday through Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 4, closed Sunday; (775) 883-5823.
