College Parkway is one of those streets that ties a city together. It runs across north Carson City, past Western Nevada College's campus, neighborhoods, offices and shopping, and connects to US-395 and US-50. Our service center sits on the east side of it at 1861 E College Pkwy. This post is for students, staff and neighbors who drive the parkway every day.

The neighborhood around the service center
The service center is in the 89706 ZIP, which covers north Carson City and has about 20,500 residents averaging 1.88 vehicles per household (Census ACS 5-year 2020-2024). North Carson is about 2.1 miles from the service center by free-flow routing, the city as a whole about 3.4, Mound House about 5.3 miles up US-50, and Dayton about 11.5 (OSRM). Washoe Valley drivers coming south on I-580 are about 12 miles away.
Western Nevada College's Carson City campus is on College Parkway too (Western Nevada College). For students and staff with a car that needs attention between classes, the same street makes it simple.
Why Carson drivers do not need a smog check
Carson City is not one of Nevada's emissions testing areas; the DMV tests only in the urban parts of Washoe and Clark counties (Nevada DMV emission page). A vehicle registered in Carson City renews without a smog check. That is why the College Parkway service center's work is mostly oil changes and fluids rather than paperwork.
If your vehicle is registered at a Reno or Sparks address, it still needs a test, and our Reno service centers do them. To ask whether the Carson City service center is running smog tests for Washoe-registered cars, call (775) 883-5823.
What reviewers here mention
Carson City reviewers talk a lot about the people. Jessica P. brings three vehicles in regularly and wrote that the oil techs are all super kind and very polite (Google review). Victor V. described a nice clean service center, very organized (Google review). Kresta B. wrote that the crew is efficient and knowledgeable and not pushy with sales of something you might not need (Google review). Mary W. said the team does a great job of explaining the options available for her vehicle (Google review).
Weather shows up too. J G. wrote that the crew checked fluids, advised on maintenance and pulled his car in twice even during a snowstorm (Google review). Carson City averages 146 nights a year at or below freezing (NOAA 1991-2020 normals), so winter visits are part of the routine.
- Kind, polite technicians
- A clean, organized service center
- Options explained, no pressure
Hours and what the bay offers
The service center is open Monday to Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 4, closed Sunday. The menu covers the full-service oil change with the maintenance check, transmission fluid service, coolant, differential and power steering service, engine and cabin filters, A/C, bulbs, wipers and a battery check at participating locations.
For students, a few habits stretch a car's life on a budget: check the oil level every few fill-ups, keep an eye on the sticker, and do not ignore a warning light because the semester is busy. The maintenance check that comes with every oil change is a second look at the rest of the car, and you decide what, if anything, gets done.
Between classes, after work or on a Saturday morning, pull into 1861 E College Pkwy. No appointment needed.
