Coolant flush for Mogul drivers: Mae Anne Avenue, 7 minutes
Mogul is about 7 minutes and 3.6 miles from our Mae Anne Avenue service center by OSRM routing, the closest of our four service centers, and you can drive in for a coolant test and flush without an appointment. We check the freeze point and the condition first, then replace the coolant with the type your manual specifies only if it needs it.
Mogul is small, about 1,050 people in 474 households, but it is well stocked with vehicles: 2.85 per household on average and 85.7 percent of homes with two or more (Census ACS 5-year 2024). That matters for coolant more than for most fluids. Coolant ages by the calendar, and the trailer truck, the weekend car or the camper parked beside the house is aging its coolant whether it moves or not.
Time, not miles, is what runs out
AAA lists conventional green IAT coolant at about two years or 24,000 miles and the long-life OAT and HOAT types at about five years or 50,000 miles, some makers allowing up to ten years or 150,000. Notice the years. A vehicle that covers 3,000 miles a year will hit the time limit long before the mileage, and the corrosion inhibitors in the coolant wear out on the same schedule either way.
So the household with three vehicles usually has one that is overdue and nobody noticed. Bring them in together; a freeze-point reading on each takes a minute.
I-80 along the river, and what it asks of a radiator
Mogul sits on the I-80 corridor where the Truckee River leaves the canyon. Head west and the interstate starts its long climb toward Donner Summit; head east and you are in Reno, where the airport station averages 65 days a year at 90 F or hotter (NOAA 1991-2020 normals). A truck towing a boat or a camper up that grade on an August afternoon is the textbook severe-service case: high load, high outside temperature, thin air at altitude.
Winter is the other side. The same station records about 122 freezing nights a year. Healthy coolant at the right mix protects against both, and that is the whole point of the service.
Seven minutes to the bay
Take I-80 east to the McCarran Boulevard exit or follow West 4th Street into town, turn north and pick up Mae Anne Avenue; the service center is at 6100 Mae Anne, about 7 minutes from Mogul with no traffic. Open Monday through Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 4, closed Sunday, (775) 787-1000.
How the flush is done
Refractometer freeze-point reading and a look at color and clarity, shown to you
A written estimate first for anything over fifty dollars (Nevada NRS 487.6875); you decide
Radiator drained, and the block where the engine allows it
Refill with the manufacturer's coolant type at the correct ratio, never a guess by color
Air bled from the system, heater and gauge checked, cap and hoses inspected
About 7 minutes (3.6 miles) to the Reno Northwest service center by car in light traffic, OpenStreetMap routing (OSRM), retrieved 10/15/26. Not a promise of your drive time.

Still have a question? Call your service center or drive in; there is no appointment to make.
My camper barely moves. Does it still need coolant service?
Yes, on the time interval in its manual. Coolant inhibitors wear out with age, not just miles.
Can you do two vehicles in one visit?
Yes. Bring both and we will test each one and tell you which, if either, is due.
What if the coolant is low but looks clean?
Low coolant with no obvious cause is worth a look. See coolant low with no leak; we check the cap, hoses and reservoir and tell you what we find.
