Coolant flush for Southeast Reno and the airport drivers: Longley Lane, 8 minutes
Our Longley Lane service center sits inside 89502, about 8 minutes and 2.6 miles from the middle of southeast Reno by OSRM routing. Drive in with a car, pickup or work van; we test the coolant, and if it needs replacing we flush it and refill with the type the manufacturer specifies.
The neighborhood around the airport is a working part of Reno. The 89502 ZIP holds about 46,691 people with 1.61 vehicles per household and an 18.6 minute average commute (Census ACS 5-year 2024), and its streets carry a steady flow of service trucks, delivery vans and rental returns. The service center at 4993 Longley Ln is the lowest of our four, at 4,426 feet (USGS 3DEP), and its lot is wide enough for a three-quarter-ton pickup or a box van.
Work vehicles and the severe schedule
A van that idles at job sites, carries a full load all day and makes dozens of short stops is what manufacturers mean by severe service. Its coolant runs hot and its cooling fan works without the help of road speed. For fleet and work vehicles, the interval to follow is the one printed for those conditions in the maintenance schedule, and keeping a dated record of the coolant service makes the next one easy to plan. Our work van coolant page and fleet program cover that side.
Southeast Reno weather
The Reno-Tahoe International Airport weather station is practically next door, and its 1991-2020 normals describe this neighborhood's year exactly: about 65 days at 90 F or hotter, six at 100 F or hotter, 122 nights at or below freezing and roughly 25 at 20 F or colder (NOAA). Summer averages above 90 F for the daily high. That spread is the reason coolant is a mix of glycol and water with inhibitors, and the reason it has to be the right mix.
Types and the published intervals
AAA describes the green IAT coolant at about two years or 24,000 miles, OAT, which GM uses widely, at about five years or 50,000 miles, and HOAT, which Ford and Chrysler use widely, at about five years or 50,000 miles, with some makers allowing up to ten years or 150,000. Heavy-duty diesel coolants follow their own specifications. The owner's manual or the fleet maintenance schedule decides which goes in.
How the visit runs
Take Mill Street east from I-580 and turn onto Longley Lane; pull toward the open bay.
The technician tests the freeze point and condition of the coolant and inspects the cap, hoses and reservoir.
You get the findings, and a written estimate for any work over fifty dollars under NRS 487.6875.
With your approval, the system is drained, refilled to the manufacturer's spec, and bled of air.
The heater and gauge are checked and the old coolant goes to recycling.

The Longley Lane lot handles both. Bring the vehicle and we will check it.

Yes. Ask about the fleet program at the window or on the fleet page.
What if the test shows oil in the coolant?
That points to an internal problem we do not repair. We tell you what we saw and recommend a repair shop.
