What wiper blades cost

eBay Motors' wiper guide puts rubber blades at $10 to $25 each and silicone blades at $20 to $50 each, and Jerry's June 2025 estimate lists premium beam blades at $25 to $40 each. Most cars need two front blades and some need a rear, so a full set usually lands somewhere between those per-blade figures times two or three.

Wiper blades are priced per blade, sized per car and sold in more styles than most people realize, which is why one person pays twenty dollars for a pair and another pays eighty. The published figures below cover the main types, with the source and date for each. Then the part that matters in Northern Nevada: our summers bake the rubber long before the first storm, so the right time to buy is usually fall, not the morning of the first snow on I-580.

Per-blade prices by type

eBay Motors' published wiper guide gives the two broad bands: rubber blades at $10 to $25 each and silicone at $20 to $50 each. Jerry's wiper cost article, dated June 26, 2025, prices premium beam blades at $25 to $40 each and says basic refills can be under $10 where the frame takes them. Beam blades have no exposed frame, so snow and ice have less to grab, which is why they are popular in snow country.

Multiply by the blades your car uses. Most sedans have two front blades of different lengths. Many SUVs and hatchbacks add a smaller rear blade that people forget until it smears the back glass on a slushy morning.

Why Reno blades wear out early

Wiper rubber is damaged more by sun and heat than by use. The Reno airport averages 65 days a year at 90 F or hotter (NOAA 1991-2020 normals), and a parked car's windshield gets much hotter than the air. By fall the edge is often hard, cracked or set in the shape of the glass, and it chatters the first time it rains.

Then winter asks the most of them. The same station averages about 21 inches of snow a year, mostly December through March, and much of the I-580 and US 395 commute happens in the dark in those months. The eBay Motors guide suggests replacing blades before the cooler, wetter fall weather, and the Car Care Council recommends inspecting them twice a year. In Northern Nevada, October is the natural time.

Signs a blade is done

A streak in the same spot on every swipe can also be a bent arm or a chip in the glass. We check which it is before suggesting anything.

  • Streaks or bands of water left behind after a swipe
  • Chattering or skipping across the glass
  • A haze or film that the washer fluid does not clear
  • Visible cracks, splits or a rounded, shiny edge on the rubber
  • A blade that lifts off the glass at highway speed

Fitting them in the bay

Wiper blades are part of the multi-point check at every oil change at all four service centers. If yours are worn, we show you the edge, tell you the price for the right size and style, and fit them on the spot if you want them; no appointment needed. We also top up washer fluid during the visit, which matters as much as the blade on a muddy spring day.

Our wiper blade service page lists what we carry, and the winter wiper guide and the beam vs conventional comparison help you pick a style.

What moves the price

  • Blade style: conventional frame, beam or hybrid
  • Rubber or silicone wiping edge
  • Sizes: the driver and passenger blades are often different lengths
  • A rear blade on SUVs, wagons and hatchbacks
  • Connector type, since some late-model arms take only specific blades
  • Whether installation is included or billed separately

Questions people ask

Still have a question? Call your service center or drive in; there is no appointment to make.

Are expensive wiper blades worth it?

Sometimes. Beam and silicone blades cost more per the published figures and tend to handle snow and sun better, but a correctly sized conventional blade replaced on schedule clears glass well. Replacing on time matters more than price.

How often should I replace wipers in Reno?

Inspect them twice a year, as the Car Care Council suggests, and plan on replacing them each fall after the summer heat.

Do I need winter blades?

Not usually. A beam blade handles most Reno and Carson City snow. Drivers who cross the Mount Rose Highway or Kingsbury Grade daily in winter sometimes prefer a dedicated winter blade.

Will you install blades I bought elsewhere?

Ask at the service center. Fitting a correct blade takes very little time, and the technician will tell you if the size or connector is wrong for your arm.
