Oil change for Sun Valley drivers, 21 minutes away at Reno Northwest (Mae Anne Avenue)
Sun Valley is about 21 minutes and 10 miles from our Mae Anne Avenue service center by Sun Valley Boulevard and North McCarran (OSRM routing, 10/15/26); our Longley Lane service center is about 20 by US-395, so pick the one on your side. Either way, the full-service oil change covers oil, filter, chassis lube, light reset and a multi-point check, no appointment.
Sun Valley is one of the biggest communities we serve, with 22,228 people and 2.41 vehicles per household (Census ACS 5-year 2024), and a lot of those vehicles work for a living. Contractor pickups, landscaping trailers and delivery vans put a different kind of wear on oil than a commuter sedan does, and they are the reason we wrote a page for Sun Valley instead of folding it into Reno.
Work trucks, trailers and the severe schedule
A truck that idles at job sites, tows a trailer up Pyramid Highway or runs dirt lots all day is on every manufacturer's severe-service list, and so is the dust that comes with it. Reno gets only about 7.4 inches of precipitation a year (NOAA 1991-2020 normals), so dust stays airborne, loads the engine air filter and, if the filter is ignored, ends up in the oil as grit. Idling is its own problem: the odometer barely moves while the engine runs for hours, so a mileage-based sticker understates how hard the oil has worked.
AAA's guidance is that many modern engines on synthetic oil go 5,000 to 7,500 miles between changes, that the owner's manual sets the number, and that severe service shortens it. For a Sun Valley work truck, the severe interval is the right one; for the family car that does the school run and the 25.9-minute mean commute (Census ACS 2024), the normal interval usually holds. We write each sticker to fit, and the fleet program can keep a whole crew's trucks on one schedule.
Two Reno service centers, pick your direction
From Sun Valley Boulevard, head south to North McCarran and west to Mae Anne Avenue; the service center at 6100 Mae Anne Ave is about 21 minutes by OSRM free-flow routing. If your work takes you down US-395 toward the airport and south Reno, Longley Lane is about 20 minutes and does the same service, with Saturday hours until 3 instead of 4. Both service centers test smog.

Altitude and the cold months
Our Mae Anne Avenue service center sits at 4,917 feet (USGS 3DEP), and Sun Valley is in the same thin air, so an engine here works harder for the same output and a dirty air filter costs more than it would at sea level. Winter adds 122 freezing nights a year at the Reno airport (NOAA), each one a cold start on thick oil. A full synthetic flows better on those mornings, which is why most newer trucks specify it, and a battery test in the fall is cheap insurance for a truck that has to start at 6 a.m.
No appointment, hours and the smog check
Mae Anne Avenue is open Monday through Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 4, closed Sunday; call (775) 787-1000. Drive in and stay with the vehicle. Sun Valley is inside the Washoe County emissions-testing area, so a vehicle registered there needs an annual smog check from its fourth registration on, with a passing result valid for 90 days (Nevada DMV). Both Reno service centers test, and the Sun Valley smog check page covers the rules. One trip, both jobs, and the truck is back on the job.

Only place I'll go to get my oil changed. I was advised yesterday that I didn't need an oil change quite yet, saving me money. So nice to deal with honest people

Still have a question? Call your service center or drive in; there is no appointment to make.
Do you service contractor trucks and vans?
Yes, including diesel oil changes, and we can set up a fleet account so every truck in a crew runs on one schedule.
Which service center is closer to Sun Valley?
Mae Anne Avenue about 21 minutes, Longley Lane about 20, by OSRM routing. Pick the one on your route.
Does idling count as miles?
In terms of wear, yes. Manufacturers treat extended idling as severe service, so a truck that idles a lot should use the shorter interval.
Can I get the smog check at the same time?
Yes, at either Reno service center, with the result sent to the DMV electronically.
