Chrysler Voyager Oil Change: The Pacifica's V6 in a Working Van
The Voyager is built on the Pacifica and uses the same 3.6-liter V6 and nine-speed automatic, so it takes the SAE 0W-20 to Chrysler standard MS-6395 that Chrysler's Pacifica fluid table lists, about 5 quarts with the filter. Its oil change indicator times each change, with a ceiling of 10,000 miles or 12 months in the Stellantis manual.

Chrysler brought the Voyager name back for 2020 as the simpler, lower-trim sibling of the Pacifica, and from 2022 it was sold as a fleet-only LX for a stretch. In Northern Nevada that means a lot of them work for a living: rideshare vans out of the airport, church and school shuttles, rental returns and company vans that roll up and down US-395 all day. Those duties change how fast the oil wears, even though the engine is the same one in a family Pacifica.
At a glance
- 3.6-liter V6 and nine-speed automatic, the same as the gas Pacifica (Carvana and CARiD model listings)
- SAE 0W-20 to MS-6395, about 5 qt with filter (Chrysler 2022 Pacifica fluid table)
- Oil change indicator; service within 500 miles of the message; never past 10,000 miles or 12 months
- Idling and stop-and-go shuttle work are on the manual's early-change list
- Fleet accounts get a service record for every visit

Same engine as the Pacifica, different life
Model listings for the 2022 Voyager from Carvana and CARiD describe a 3.6-liter V6 with a nine-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, the gas Pacifica's drivetrain. Chrysler's 2022 Pacifica fluid table lists SAE 0W-20 meeting MS-6395 for that engine, about 5 quarts with the filter, and tells owners to confirm the grade on the filler cap. We do exactly that on each Voyager before the drain plug comes out.
What differs is the duty. A family Pacifica might spend its week on school runs and its weekend on the highway to Tahoe. A Voyager in shuttle service may idle at a curb for an hour between runs and never get out of second gear on Virginia Street.
Idle hours count against the oil
The Stellantis owner's manual names extended idling, frequent short trips, trailer towing and extremely hot or cold temperatures as the conditions that bring the Oil Change Required message on sooner. A van that idles with the air conditioning on through a Reno summer, about 65 days a year at 90 F or hotter on NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals, is doing all of that at once.
That is why fleet Voyagers often see the message well before 10,000 miles. When it lights, the manual asks for service within the next 500 miles. If your van has an hour meter or the fleet tracks idle time, bring that number in and we will note it on the record.
Transmission and coolant on the Voyager
The nine-speed in the Pacifica family takes ZF 8 and 9 speed ATF, with a 6.35 quart service fill on the 948TE in Chrysler's 2022 Pacifica table. It has no dipstick. For a van that has spent its life in stop-and-go work, ask about a transmission fluid service and we will tell you what the schedule and the van's miles point to.
Coolant is the Mopar 10 year or 150,000 mile OAT formula. We check level and condition and never add a different type. A shuttle that sits in winter too, through Reno's 122 or so freezing nights, needs that freeze protection as much as its summer heat protection.
Keeping fleet Voyagers on schedule
Our fleet service program keeps a record of each visit so the person who manages the vans can see which one is due. Drivers can pull into whichever of our four service centers is on their route: 6100 Mae Anne Ave and 4993 Longley Ln in Reno, 1861 E College Pkwy in Carson City or 1293 US Hwy 395 N in Gardnerville. No appointment needed.
For a van carrying passengers we pay close attention to the items riders notice: wipers, washer fluid, every exterior bulb, and a cabin filter that is not full of road dust.
The Voyager check, item by item
- Grade confirmed on the cap, full synthetic 0W-20, new filter, message reset
- Engine air filter and cabin filter pulled and shown
- Coolant, brake fluid and washer fluid levels
- Tire pressure for a full load of passengers
- Headlights, tail lights, wipers, and a battery test at participating locations
- An under-van look for leaks and worn boots

Questions people ask
Still have a question? Call your service center or drive in; there is no appointment to make.
What oil does a Chrysler Voyager take?
The Voyager shares the Pacifica's 3.6-liter V6. Chrysler's Pacifica fluid table lists SAE 0W-20 meeting MS-6395, about 5 quarts with the filter. We confirm on the cap.
How often should a fleet Voyager get an oil change?
When the oil change indicator says so, never past 10,000 miles or 12 months. Idling and short trips bring the message on earlier, so shuttle vans often come in sooner.
Can you keep records for our vans?
Yes. The fleet program records each service so you can see which van is due.
Do drivers need an appointment?
No. Any of our four service centers takes them during open hours.
