Washoe Valley is about 16 minutes from our College Parkway service center in Carson City by I-580, and a battery check there measures voltage, cold cranking amps and the terminals. The Car Care Council's advice is to test a battery after three years and every fall from then on.

Washoe Valley sits between the two long weather records we use. The Reno airport to the north averages 122 nights a year at or below freezing; the Carson City station to the south averages 146, with about 43 nights at 20 degrees or colder (NOAA 1991-2020 normals). The valley floor around the lake, open to the wind off the Carson Range, is closer to Carson's numbers than Reno's on a still January night.
