Lemmon Valley is about 20 minutes from our Mae Anne Avenue service center and 19 from Longley Lane (OSRM routing, 10/15/26), and both do transmission fluid service while you wait. Horse trailers, dirt roads and a 30-minute average commute put a lot of Lemmon Valley vehicles on the manual's severe-service column.

Big lots, horse corrals and gravel driveways: Lemmon Valley is the most rural-feeling corner of the North Valleys, and its vehicles work for it. 85.2 percent of households own two or more vehicles and the mean commute is 30.3 minutes (Census ACS 5-year 2024). A truck that tows a horse trailer up Lemmon Drive on Saturday and commutes into Reno on Monday is two different jobs for the same transmission.
Pulling a loaded horse trailer is about as severe as service gets: a heavy load, low speed, lots of starts and stops, often on a hot day. Toyota tells owners to shorten the transmission fluid interval when towing, and every truck manual we read has a severe or special-conditions column for the same reason, usually 30,000 to 60,000 miles. If your truck pulls a trailer even a few times a month, that is the column to follow.
Summer makes it harder. The Reno airport station averages about 65 days a year at 90 degrees or hotter (NOAA 1991-2020 normals), and Lemmon Valley gets the same sun with less shade.

Excellent facility!First visit a day ago. Shop Manager Tim welcomed me, and naturally started a friendly conversation (about cars), then he proceeded to personally service my car (oil change),he worked fast, but not in a hurry, changed the oil,greased the joints,checked everything around the engine, also detected a low transmission fluid level,which he corrected. Saying it simply:Tim is of a kind of professional they don't make any more! I will be back!
