Oil change near ZIP 89703: West Carson City and Kings Canyon, College Parkway in 6 minutes

The west side of Carson City climbs from Carson Street into the foothills of the Carson Range: the Ormsby Boulevard neighborhoods, the homes off Kings Canyon Road and Ash Canyon Road, and the quiet streets with views back across the valley. It is the oldest-skewing ZIP in Carson, and many of the cars here go to Lake Tahoe by US-50 on the weekend.

US-50 to the lake starts here

From west Carson, Spooner Summit and Lake Tahoe are one US-50 climb away. Climbing grades heats the oil and the coolant, and the downhill side works the brakes and the transmission. Most owner's manuals put mountain driving under severe service. Our high-altitude guide explains what that means for intervals, and the maintenance check at every oil change covers the coolant, wipers and lights you want before a winter crossing.

If you are coming from the north end of Ash Canyon, Winnie Lane to Carson Street gets you there with fewer lights.

Saturday at College Parkway runs 8 to 4, which suits a Friday-night reminder and a Saturday-morning visit before heading up to the lake.
