Wiper blades for Midtown and Downtown Reno drivers: Reno South (Longley Lane), 10 minutes
Midtown and downtown Reno are about 10 minutes and 3.8 miles from our Longley Lane service center by South Virginia Street or I-580, and we replace wiper blades there while you wait. Have them checked twice a year, as the Car Care Council advises, because a car that lives outdoors wears them out faster.
Downtown is the one part of the Reno area where most households do not own two cars. The 89501 ZIP averages 0.78 vehicles per household, and fewer than half of workers drive alone (Census ACS 5-year 2024). The cars that are here mostly sleep on the street or in an open lot, so the one vehicle in the household takes every hot afternoon and every frozen morning with no garage between it and the weather.
One car, no garage
A wiper blade wears from two things: use and exposure. Downtown cars are not driven far, but they are exposed all the time. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals at the Reno-Tahoe airport list about 65 days a year at 90 degrees or hotter and around 122 nights at or below freezing. A curbside windshield bakes in July and frosts over in December, and the rubber hardens and then cracks. That is why a downtown car with low mileage can still have blades that streak.
City grime on the glass
Street parking adds its own mess: bus exhaust film, construction dust from the Midtown projects, pigeon visits and the occasional lawn sprinkler. Reno gets only about 7.35 inches of precipitation a year (NOAA), so that film builds up rather than washing off. Running dry wipers over it smears it and wears the edge. A full washer reservoir and a spray before every wipe help more than most people expect.
What the visit looks like
Most newer cars take beam blades, which have no exposed frame and resist ice better. Older cars often use conventional framed blades. We look up the size for each side so the blade neither misses glass nor hits the trim.

Getting there from downtown
Head south on South Virginia Street, or take I-580 south, to the Moana Lane or Kietzke area and over to 4993 Longley Ln. OSRM routing puts it about 10 minutes and 3.8 miles from 89501. Hours are Monday through Friday 8 to 5 and Saturday 8 to 3, closed Sunday.
If you share a car or borrow one, the twice-a-year wiper post is a simple way to remember when to check. And if the blades are fine but the streaks are not, the streaking page covers the other causes.

What a customer said
Reno South
These guys are great. Fast courteous service. Upon arrival I was greeted by a technician who took the pertinent information and got me in the queue. I told him I was going to get lunch at a local restaurant and while I was there he called to say my truck was done. They didn't try to upsell me on a bunch of stuff I didn't need and overall I couldn’t have asked for more. 5 Stars all the way!
