East Sparks runs from the Sparks Marina and the Legends area out along Vista Boulevard, past the newer subdivisions and the distribution centers toward the east end of the valley. The ZIP is far enough from either Reno service center that we would rather say it plainly: this is not a quick hop. It is a planned stop when the DMV notice arrives.

Make one trip do two jobs

The Nevada DMV emission page puts Sparks in the Washoe County testing area, and east Sparks is no exception. Mae Anne Avenue is about 31 minutes, continuing on I-80 to McCarran Boulevard. On a weekday afternoon, add time for the I-80 and I-580 interchange.

Plenty of those commutes run east toward the industrial center on I-80, which means steady highway miles. Highway driving is gentle on oil per mile, but the miles add up fast; the owner's manual and the dash reminder tell you when.
