Sun Valley is an unincorporated part of Washoe County tucked in the hills between Reno and Spanish Springs, with Sun Valley Boulevard running up the middle. It is a working community with lots of trucks, lots of older vehicles and lots of households with more cars than garage spaces. The smog test comes every year here, so the useful thing is to make it count twice.

Count on a yearly smog test
Sun Valley is inside the Washoe County emissions area described on the Nevada DMV emission page. Gasoline vehicles past their third registration need a test every year at renewal; hybrids are exempt for five model years; diesel pickups up to 14,000 pounds GVWR are tested. A pass lasts 90 days (NRS 445B.800).
Older vehicles are the ones most likely to come back not ready or to fail on a check engine light. Tell us about any warning light before the test, and read the check engine light guide if one is on.
Sun Valley households in the ACS
ZCTA 89433 has 23,016 residents in 7,214 households in the ACS 2020-2024 estimates, which works out to more than three people per household. Vehicles average 2.36 per household, and 73.8 percent own two or more. Median household income is $75,984 per the ACS and the median age is 35.5.
The mean commute is 26.1 minutes, with 71.4 percent driving alone (ACS 2020-2024).
Two ways out of the valley
Sun Valley Boulevard runs south to McCarran Boulevard. Turn west on McCarran and stay with it around the north end of Reno to Mae Anne Avenue, about 21 minutes. For Longley Lane, take McCarran or Dandini Boulevard to US-395, go south through town and exit at Mill Street, about 20. Mae Anne is open until 4 on Saturday and Longley until 3, which can decide it on a weekend.
Trucks, towing and the fluids that follow
A pickup that tows a trailer or hauls a load up the grades counts as severe service in nearly every owner's manual. That applies to the oil interval and often to the transmission fluid and differential too. We check those levels and condition at every oil change and tell you what the manual says before we suggest anything. The decision stays with you.

I did this review by voice text so the punctuation and spelling might be a little goofy
